Mixed plastic sorting facilities categorize recyclable plastics into specific material groups, reducing environmental impact and optimizing resource recovery. Their operations enhance energy savings and advance circular economy practices.
4 Key Steps in Plastics Sorting Process
Collection and transportation: Plastic waste is collected from various sources and transported to the facility for processing
Sorting and Pre-Cleaning: Collected waste is separated according to color, density, and type. At this stage, foreign materials (lid, label, metal parts, and dirt) are also separated.
Shredding and Washing: Separated waste is turned into small pieces. Shredded Plastic is washed with hot water and various cleaning solutions to remove sticky residues, oils and other dirt.
Drying and Burring: Cleaned and sorted plastic parts are dried, then packaged and made ready to be reused as raw material.
