BIO – Biogas Production Plant

Biomethanization plants treat organic waste in anaerobic digesters to generate biogas, which can be used for electricity, heat, or fuel. The process reduces the accumulation of biodegradable waste, mitigates environmental pollution, and recovers valuable energy from materials that would otherwise decompose in landfills. By producing digestate as a byproduct, these plants also contribute to soil enrichment and resource recycling.

Main Steps of Biogas Production Plants

  • Waste Collection and Pre-Processing: Organic wastes are brought to the plant and homogenized through various pre-treatments.
  • Fermentation (Anaerobic Digestion): Waste is broken down by microorganisms in an oxygen-free environment and converted into biogas components such as methane and carbon dioxide.
  • Biogas Collection and Treatment: The biogas produced is purified from impurities and made available for energy production.
  • Waste Management and Fertilizer Production: Digestion waste remaining after fermentation is processed to be utilized as biofertilizer or disposed of safely.
